UNCLE BUNKLE'S SHARK ATTACK!
About
Has a shark ever eaten anyone you knew?
It’s unlikely you know anyone that this has happened to, but if you did, I bet you wished that you could make it stop! I know because when I was young, this happened to my pop!
Thus begins Uncle Bunkle’s whimsical, highly dubious, likely delusional, heroic recollection from his younger years. Fortunately, he wasted no time bemoaning this catastrophe when it occurred. Instead, he jumped into action. Thanks to many years of daydreaming through class, he knew precisely what to do: capture that menacing creature and…give it a stern talking to.
But then what? Read Uncle Bunkle’s Shark Attack! And find out. This improbable tale offers something for everybody–drama, excitement, heroism, magical realism, slapstick humor, and valuable life lessons–in one unforgettable read. With playful rhymes and hilarious scenarios, this picture book for kids captures a yearning for heroism and adventure common to many dreamy and courageous children.
Perfect for parents, grandparents, teachers, librarians, and possibly pirates, this funny, lyrical, rhyming book for kids is more than just a fun read-aloud experience; it’s a tool for encouraging selflessness, courage and empathy under dire circumstances. The bilingual format also makes it a great choice for families or classrooms exploring Spanish and English kids’ books.
Whether you’re looking to add to your collection of adventure tales for kids or searching for just the right fractured fable for young protectors, this story stands out for its charming illustrations and cheeky style.
Praise for this book
5 out of 5 stars. Amusing, enjoyable, and entertaining!
I had the honor of having Uncle Bunkle visit my classroom regularly throughout my years of teaching young children. The kids were delighted every single minute that he was with them...Kids love reading books with rhythm and rhyme, and a good dose of silliness. (Adults an big kids will also get a kick out of reading it)...a really fun read!
Sharks can't talk.

I'm going to really enjoy reading this book to my grandkids! It's not your Dad's children's book. It is slightly edgy and quite kooky! That's what makes the Uncle Bunkle books a great series! The illustrations capture your attention with their bright, contrasting colors and angular styling! A great book to add to your collection!
5.0 out of 5 stars Another nice Uncle Bunkle book! We had already read another Uncle Bunkle book, so my 5-year-old was really excited to dive into this one too! The story is wonderfully silly and full of adventure — we laughed a lot together. The illustrations are bright and fun, with lots of little details to spot. We especially loved the bilingual format, since we mostly speak Spanish at home — it made reading even more special for us.

4.0 out of 5 stars Off-beat, whimsical and great for older children
Reviewed in the United States on November 4, 2025. KindleVerified Purchase. Everything was totally zany with this book, in a whimsical, very off-beat manner. Even the illustrations were an interesting mix of images! The appropriate aged child will find this book hysterical, goofy, fun and amusing. This is a book I would not ready to a young child, but definitely to a child who has the maturity to understand the humor. I liked the "Curious news about sharks and coconuts" at the end, as this could lead to creating zany activities for later. Overall, it is well worth the download and humor that it will provide for older children. Thumbs up to Uncle Bunkle!
Delightful, December 19, 2025. Verified Purchase. This book is delightfully unhinged in the best way. The rhymes are playful, the story leans fully into absurdity, and the illustrations match the chaotic, adventurous energy perfectly. It’s funny without talking down to kids, and clever enough that adults will enjoy reading it aloud. Definitely better for older kids who get silly humor, but it’s a memorable, laugh-out-loud read.
Unique fun and imaginative. April 1, 2026. I loved this book! The dual language element was very interesting and something you don’t see often. I could see it being great when trying to teach kids both languages! The artworks was so unique and creative. I loved it! The storyline was fun and entertaining. I would definitely recommend this to parents!

4 out of 5 stars. Great rhyming for kids! Reviewed in the United States on April 1, 2026. he rhyming was great! Loved that it showed the Spanish writing right underneath the English. There were quite a lot of laugh out loud parts and the graphics really helped tell the story. I wouldn’t read this to a young child, I am thinking more of the ages 7-8 since the shark is eating people!

Reviewed in the United States on April 7, 2026. The illustrations in this book are absolutely hysterical! I loved the rhyming nature of the story and the fact that it is written in both English and Spanish. As a Preschool teacher in Texas, this is a great way to engage my students and help them to learn new skills- all while having a great laugh together. The humor in this tale is just so absurd and silly it reminds me of old stories and rhymes from the past. I loved the silly lesson from the end and also the random facts about sharks. This was a fun ride all around!

This book was adorable and I absolutely loved that it was both in English and Spanish the rhymes make it fun and the story itself is rather funny when you’re supposed to believe a boy grabbed the shark and saved dad then put the shark back.

Okay, so this story is a type of funny sarcasm unbelievable type of story. Its basically a tale a about a shark that eats a little boys Pop. But it involves so much more. It is a book set to rhyme that is probably better suited for ages 6-10. Uncle Bunkle is your narrator. He takes you on a small ride on the story of Pop and a little about the shark too. They are both up to different things that should be documented, I suppose. This book and the short tidbits it contains are a little different than your average rhyming book or story and should be treated as such. I like the flow of each tales and the author was able to flesh out the original plot. A really cute read that doesn't take much forethought or imagination. It is less than 50 pages long but will hold your attention for a lot longer.
A really great read and it also has Spanish translation included.

This is a fun ride and is exactly what you expect
April 13, 2026This book is exactly what you are expecting: a fin-tastic adventuren wrapped in rhyme. I also liked that the book was both written in english and I believe spanish. I learned what a lot of words were in the translation. I enjoyed the short break from doomscrolling, and I think this would be an amazing story to read to kida. Add in some funny voices and pause for dramatic effects, maybe even chomp at the kids. Just be sure not to trust those sharks in the water! I also had a fond moment knowing that Uncle Bunckle rhymes with a name I used to call my uncle, so it brought me joy to remember that.
