I had the honor of having Uncle Bunkle visit my classroom regularly throughout my years of teaching young children. The kids were delighted every single minute that he was with them. I absolutely know they would love his new book, "Catching Dinos", for all of the same reasons they loved his visits. Kids love reading books with rhythm and rhyme, and a good dose of silliness. (Adults and big kids will also get a kick out of reading it). Uncle Bunkle also credits his young readers to have the wisdom to teach these Dinos a few of life’s little lessons along the way. A really fun read!

“The illustrations really make this story. A clever blend of entertainment and inspiration, they complement the text beautifully and will keep young readers engaged and turning pages until the very end.
Warm and whimsical, Catching Dinos is sure to delight its target audience of children ages six to ten years old. It would also make an excellent choice for a read-aloud or a bedtime story. You and your little’un(s) will love it!" -- Reedsy reviewer Kristine L.
For those of us who miss Dr. Seuss, take heart: There's Uncle Bunkle.
"Catching Dinos" is a refreshingly original and playful rhyming book about how to catch dinosaurs and, once you catch them, what to teach them. It would make a wonderful bedtime story book for a toddler; but also a humorous read-aloud for a young reader. We hope to hear more from Uncle Bunkle! -- Amazon customer

Another kids' book that I would also highly recommend to adults with a good sense of humor. I have a weakness for dinosaur books, but this one is legitimately good. The illustrations are hilarious and really did remind me of Edward Gorey's style. The rhythm and rhyme were perfect, and the words themselves were clever, creative, and funny. I will definitely be reading this a few more times… – NetGalley reviewer Lisa D. 060524

This book is illustrated in black and white and seeing the Dino’s dresses in elegant clothes was so funny. It was my favorite part of the book. This is a story on what to do if you catch a dinosaur. From manners to not eating you the rhyming verses were fun. I really enjoyed the authors humor. S.W., reviewer 070924

You’ll be happy to know that, yes, there are. As this picture book explains, not only can you catch dinosaurs, but you can domesticate them, too! The intricate pen-and-ink drawings and the clever rhymes means that adults will love this book as much as the kids. - Yvonne R., educator

SYNOPSIS
Dinosaurs have been spotted running wild through the neighborhood, scaring the cats, and knocking over garbage cans. Fortunately, children have proven to be particularly helpful with dinosaur wrangling, as documented in Catching Dinos.
Well-intentioned, quirky, and perhaps in over his head, Uncle Bunkle shares questionable advice about what to do when dinosaurs descend on your neighborhood. His tips range from catching dinos (using nets, whistles, and animal crackers) to taming them (with long walks and invitations to dinner). But can they really learn to fit in? Possibly—with help from clever kids along the way.
“Have your neighbors been ignoring shaking ground and distant roaring? Just calmly reading Mother Goose while dinosaurs are running loose”? asks the narrator in this charming children’s book by Uncle Bunkle. If so, then you might want to keep an eye out for dinosaurs running wild and be careful what you teach them, too.
Because dinos running wild pose a threat to every child, Uncle Bunkle offers some sage – or perhaps not so sage – advice on how to catch a dinosaur. This ranges from catching a dino with a net or a using a special dino whistle. Maybe animal crackers will get the job done?
But once a dinosaur is caught, then what? That question opens a whole ‘nother can of fossils in this delightful story that’s equal parts wit and whimsy. Can you tame or pacify a dino? Take one out on walks? (Don’t forget the pooper scooper!) And what to do with a dinosaur at a family feast? Can you teach a dino what (or who) to eat and not eat? How it turns out all depends on what you teach your dino friends.
Told with a twinkle, this sweet story unfolds in short, lyrical sentences that are easy to follow and easy to digest. Gently rhyming prose keeps the story sudsing. The tone is bright and buoyant, the pacing is nimble. Text is kept to a minimum per page so as to not over-tax young attention spans.
The illustrations really make this story.
You and your little’un(s) will love it!

Imagination
Uncle Bunkle's amusing picture book Catching Dinos offers young readers an
imaginative romp filled with whimsy and important life lessons.
When a menagerie of dinosaurs takes over the neighborhood, the situation calls for
some creative problem-solving. Uncle Bunkle's clever narrator shares with readers
that even the most unlikely creatures can become friends through acts of kindness,
consideration, and setting reasonable boundaries. While the story is undeniably silly,
it touches on the relatable childhood experiences of making new friends and
learning to get along with others, no matter how different they may seem at first. The

Uncle Bunkle has been telling stories
just about forever, mostly in Oregon.
Only now has he begun releasing them into the wild!
Telling funny stories.
Remember Humpty Dumpty? Reduced to a mere shell of his former self. He relied on all the king's horses to revive him and look how that turned out! What would you do if this happeed to you?
Does your granny have a wild imagination? Ours sure does. She went fishing this morning and came home with a wild hat! Is there such a thing? Can she really train it to scare off invaders from outer space?
Has a shark ever eatern anyone you knew? It's unlikely you know anyone that this has happened to. But if you did I bet you wished that you could it stop! I jnow because when I was young this happened to my Pop!
Does your dad ever just stand there with the fridge door open? Unsure of what to eat, but somehow hoping if enough time passes just hanging about that the perfect little morsel's gonna pop right out? If so, you might want to warn them about what happened to my dad--he went in search of just a bedtime snack, but with no note left behind we'd no idea when he'd come back!
Do emus moo? I'm asking you because I just don't know. Perhaps they eeee! I do not see why we can't make it so! Emu birds are funny things, they cannot fly thought they have wings! If they don't use them, I wonder whether they could maybe spare a feather?
